Best: Visit in off-season or try alternatives
Three miles of wide, sandy beach adjacent to the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve - one of Southern California's premier birdwatching sites. The beach offers excellent surfing, swimming, and beach activities. RV camping is available year-round in a beachfront parking lot (primitive but with million-dollar views). The adjoining wetlands provide a stark contrast to the beach, hosting over 200 bird species. The paved bicycle path connects to Huntington Beach. Bonfires are popular (seasonal). Less crowded than neighboring beaches despite proximity to major population centers.
