Some visitors, parking usually available
Best: Weekday mornings
At nearly 90,000 acres, Henry W. Coe is the largest state park in Northern California and one of the most rugged wildernesses in the Bay Area. Rolling oak-covered hills, narrow canyons, and seasonal wildflower meadows reward hikers willing to venture beyond the front country. Backcountry camping is world-class, with over 100 miles of trails.
