Best: Visit in off-season or try alternatives
Lake Tahoe's largest state park features nearly 2 miles of pristine lakefront, towering sugar pines, and the magnificent Ehrman Mansion - a turn-of-the-century summer estate open for tours. The park offers year-round recreation: summer swimming and kayaking on sandy beaches, fall colors among aspens and maples, winter cross-country skiing on groomed trails, and spring wildflowers. Less crowded than other Tahoe parks, it provides a perfect base for exploring the west shore while offering its own network of nature trails through old-growth forest.
